One of us still kicking

LENA LAGUNA DIEL | 20.02 - 27.03.2025

BETA is pleased to announce the opening of ‘One of us still kicking’, a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Lena Laguna Diel.

“Some forces shape us in ways we can name. Others move through us unseen, emerging in gestures, in imprints, in the spaces between things. Lena Laguna Diel’s ‘One of us still kicking’ traces these invisible currents—the quiet transmissions of memory, the weight of presence and absence, the forms that hold what cannot be spoken.”

- Extract from the curatorial text by Juan Salazar.

Opening: 20.02.2025 | 19:00h - 22:00h

Trauma Café

FERNANDO LOYOLA | 09.01 - 06.02.2025

With ‘Trauma Café’, Fernando Loyola invites us into an evocative realm where abstraction meets narrative, and painting becomes a form of invocation. This new body of work, created specifically for his debut solo exhibition, reflects the intensity of Loyola’s process—one that oscillates between control and surrender.

Themes of trauma, discord, and unresolved emotion pervade Loyola’s paintings, yet they do not aim for catharsis. Instead, his works act as conduits, conjuring the intangible through layered marks and suggestive forms. The influence of Surrealism is palpable, not as a stylistic choice but as an outcome of Loyola’s engagement with automatism and chance.

Trauma Café is more than an exhibition of paintings; it is an experience that extends into the physical gallery space through site-specific interventions. In doing so, Loyola transforms the gallery into a meditative yet unsettling environment, echoing the dualities inherent in his work.

DEJO DE SENTIR

Juan Perdiguero Trillo | Curated by Irene Sánchez

BETA is pleased to present ‘Cuando pienso dejo de sentir’, Juan Perdiguero Trillo’s first solo exhibition with the gallery.

‘Cuando pienso dejo de sentir’ takes us into the tension between freedom and confinement, a quiet rebellion articulated through his hands and his medium. Here, painting isn’t bound to conventions or institutions, and its act is both instinctive and intentional.

‘NOMEOLVIDES’

NOMEOLVIDES' offers an introspective exploration of memory, where Carlos Herraiz challenges the boundaries between what we choose to remember and what we are willing to forget. Through a series of intricate works, Herraiz invites us to reflect on the fleeting nature of our memories and the subtle ways in which they fade over time.

EL CARINYO

At the heart of Miriam Dema's artistic process lies a deliberate fusion between lived experience and artistic practice. Here, the boundaries between the two realms blur, each informing the other, and fueling a process in which present experiences, distant memories, and powerful emotions create layers of meaning in compositions that burst with vibrant colors, vivid textures, and varying perspectives.
