Piedra e hilo - This joint presentation, the result of an exchange between a gallery in Colombia and one in Barcelona, is conceived as a territory of dialogue where the practices of Carlos Herraiz and Bernardo Montoya converge in an exploration of matter and its expressive potential. The collaboration embodies a conversation between contexts, geographies, and ways of inhabiting time through materiality.

Both Herraiz and Montoya understand matter as a living archive — a body capable of holding memory and transformation. In their works, materials are not only manipulated but also listened to. This attentiveness to the behavior of the material — its density, texture, resistance, or fragility — reveals a shared interest in allowing objects to speak, to let their presence assert itself before their representation.

The group of works oscillates between seemingly opposite poles: the light and the heavy, the rigid and the flexible, the stable and the ephemeral. This pendular movement, which is also a metaphor for the exchange between the two artists and their contexts, articulates a poetics of unstable balance. The pieces seem to situate themselves on a threshold, suspended between inertia and impulse, between trace and possibility.

The alliance between the two galleries thus becomes a natural extension of the works themselves — a gesture of openness, passage, and correspondence. From this perspective, the exhibition is not limited to displaying objects; it proposes a space for thinking of matter as a common language, capable of weaving connections between territories and sensibilities. In that confluence, material becomes thought, and dialogue takes form.
