Elena Rocabert
b. 1994 | Madrid, Spain
Elena Rocabert is an artist working at the intersection of art and architecture. Her multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture and spatial intervention, with a strong focus on material experimentation as a means to explore speculative narratives and processes of transformation, including cycles of renewal, decay and the tension between destruction and creation. Fiction, often shaped by dystopian undertones, operates as a critical framework in her work, opening space for reflection and alternative imaginaries. Her research engages deeply with social ecologies and material processes, seeking to reveal the latent structures and invisible layers embedded within space.
She holds a degree in Architecture from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSAM) and the Technische Universität Berlin. From 2021 to 2024, she was part of the curatorial team at Medialab Matadero Madrid. In 2024, she collaborated with TBA21 Thyssen Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Museo de Altamira on a research project addressing non-human temporalities and cultural landscapes.
Her work has been developed through residencies at Never At Home (Funkhaus, Vienna), GlogauAIR (Berlin), Pluto (Valencia) and Organismo (TBA21, Madrid), and presented in institutions and platforms including Klima Biennal Vienna, Funkhaus Vienna, Teatros del Canal, Madrid Design Festival, Bienal Mayrit, Sala de Arte Joven of the Community of Madrid, GlogauAIR Berlin, Casabanchel and Madrid Fashion Week, among others.
In 2024, she was awarded the inaugural AD Creators Award and, in 2025, received a mention at the COAM Awards in the category of ephemeral architecture. In 2025, Rocabert was selected as the winner of the open call for LENTA, the artist residency by BETA Contemporary and Casa Pardal. The residency culminated in Lo Oscuro Quema, her first solo exhibition at BETA Contemporary in 2026.
